Hawkes Bespoke Outfitters in Cardiff, (Wales) is the place to visit if you’re looking for men’s suit that fits you like a glove, made specifically to fit your physical curves and edges. Located in the Morgan Arcades, one of the many charming arcades scattered all over Cardiff’s City Centre. Hawkes is a micro business that offers bespoke tailoring services to clients all over the UK. It’s owned and operated by Russell Scott-Lawson, a man who has been in the menswear retail business for more than 30 years! He can spot a badly-made suit a mile away!
The store also carries top brands in men’s suits such as:
You will see Hawkes’ clients on TV all the time. We look after presenters, politicians, businessmen and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. We have looked after rugby teams and rugby players like George North, Jamie Roberts, Adam Jones, and Ryan Jones – just to name a few. These guys are 6 ft. 4 in., 6 ft. 5, 18 stones of muscle, they can’t walk into a high-street store and buy a pair of jeans and a jacket, because nobody is stocking their size.
You may have even seen entire wedding parties suited by Hawkes and not even realise it! Approximately 80% of our business is weddings, we’ve done in excess of 30 rugby weddings! In fact, in 2016, we were hired for close to 400 weddings…Can you believe that? 400 weddings in 52 weeks? One can only imagine how much work we put in there. And even more impressive: we did the Commonwealth Games for Wales, dressing 140 athletes – all in bespoke – in very short period of time.
We accommodate gentlemen from a 36 short to a 54 regular, we can also fit a guy that is 7ft tall without any tailoring. Talk about catering to all sizes! It’s easy to see why our clients are rarely disappointed even if they happen to be a walk-in client.
Our typical client is the man who appreciates good quality clothing and who is not brand-led. He would rather buy a shirt for £100 that would last him five years than five shirts for £100 that will last him six weeks. It’s kind of like a good car…if you drive a cheap useless car it’s going to break down, if you drive a good quality car, it’s not going to break down, it’s going to look after you better, so we apply that to clothing basically.
In the next post we will discuss the difference between off-the-rack and bespoke suits in menswear. Pretty soon we will also be looking at men’s shoes and what’s hot this season, so stay tuned!
